Area of the Month: Pinar de Campoverde
Thinking about buying a property on the Costa Blanca but not sure where to look? This month we are highlighting Pinar de Campoverde (often just called Campoverde) as our Area of the Month – we think it’s the perfect location to make the most of all this beautiful region of Spain has to offer.
Barely inland from the stunning Costa Blanca coastline, Campoverde is ideally placed to explore the surrounding countryside. Set on a hillside, surrounded by pine trees and orange and lemon groves – you will catch glimpses of the blue waters of the Mediterranean wherever you go in Campoverde. It’s only around 8 kilometres to the beach – 10 minutes in the car. And what a choice of beaches! Venture to the south and you have the exciting resorts and beaches surrounding the Mar Menor, including all the facilities of La Manga – just a little to the north and you are on the Orihuela Costa with the award-winning Blue Flag beaches of Cabo Roig, La Zenia, Playa Flamenca and Punta Prima. As you explore the location, you will soon find your own favourite beaches – even on this popular coastline it’s still possible to find pretty little coves and long stretches of white sand, that you can often have entirely to yourself.
Pinar de Campoverde itself is a peaceful town, not overdeveloped, and it's not hard to see why so many British and German people have chosen to buy homes here. There are all the facilities you need for everyday living: supermarkets, banks, bars and restaurants, shops, and a small street market on Sunday mornings.
The new urbanisation has been carefully planned and has not destroyed the character of ‘old’ Campoverde – where the public swimming pool in the town square still attracts plenty of people wanting to cool off on a hot day. If you a wider range of shops, the larger town of Pilar de la Horadada is only five minutes away by car. Many of the properties HomeEspana has for sale here are detached villas, but we also have apartments, and, occasionally, plots of land for development. There’s a good variety of property available: from the top end luxury Costa Blanca villas on the new urbanisation to more established resle villas, often with wonderful gardens, in the old part of town.
On one side of the village is the well-known geographical feature of the Rio Seca. This spectacular gorge was once a fast flowing river – you can walk along the dried up river-bed and enjoy the sights of the Rio Seca Nature Reserve. There are walks here to suit everyone – from a gentle amble, to a more challenging hike. The landscape is amazing – a twisting maze of dried up streams meander through yellow sandstone cliffs. Near to Rio Seca is a fantastic new sports centre with numerous tennis and basketball courts, football pitches, and a large public swimming pool.
If golf is your thing then a property in Pinar de Campoverde would leave you spoiled for choice. Southern Costa Blanca is a golfing paradise, and Campoverde is near to several championship golf courses – Villamartin, Campoamor and Las Ramblas are about 15-20 minutes’ drive away, La Finca is about five minutes further and for an unforgettable day out try the La Manga club. The new 18-hole course at Lo Romero Golf is closest of all – 5 minutes away, in Pilar de la Horadada.
Owning a property in Pinar de Campoverde gives easy access to the rest of the Costa Blanca, Alicante province and beyond. Pinar de la Horadada is only a few minutes' drive away and from there you can join the main A-37 motorway which runs from Alicante to Cartagena. Murcia San Javier Airport is only a 20 minute drive, Alicante airport around 50 minutes – both offer a range of cheap flights to and from Europe.
