An Introduction to Costa Blanca

A Costa Blanca property is a dream for many people. The area attracts around a million tourists every year – many drawn there by the beautiful beaches. The Costa Blanca, “White Coast”, has more Blue Flag beaches than any other Spanish Costa – a guarantee that they are clean, unpolluted and safe for all the family. The Costa Blanca has an exceptional climate: 3000 hours of sunshine a year, with an average temperature of 18 degrees Celsius, low humidity, and mild winters – you can live an outdoor lifestyle here all year round. The World Health Organisation has declared the area around Moraira, Javea and Denia "one of the most environmentally perfect climates in the world."

The Costa Blanca stretches for 170 miles along Spain’s East Coast – from Valencia in the North, to Murcia in the South – a coastline within the province of Alicante. Towards the Northern end of the Costa Blanca the terrain is rocky and mountainous. The land here is green and fertile, with the olives, lemons, oranges, almonds and cherries grown here exported worldwide. The coast road passes through beautiful Spanish towns and villages where you can find a typically Spanish, relaxed way of life. Towards the Southern reaches of the Costa Blanca the landscapes are less dramatic – you will find the largest palm forests in Europe at Elche, and the famous salt flats around Torrevieja.

Property for sale on the Costa Blanca is immensely varied and there is something to suit all requirements and budgets. There are plenty of new developments – gated and golfing communities – and also a huge variety of re-sale properties. Whatever your dream – a peaceful country villa, a finca on a mountainside, a house or apartment by the sea – the Costa Blanca is a good place to start your search. For investment potential, the Costa Blanca is hard to beat. If you are considering buying to let, 12 months of sunshine and the family appeal of the region make year-round rental a real possibility. It’s still possible to find cheap property on the Costa Blanca – as well as the luxury villas and apartments at the top end of the property market.

The Costa Blanca is easy to reach from the UK. Served by two airports: Murcia San Javier towards the South, and Alicante's El Altet in the North (around 11 km from Alicante city centre) there are flights to and from the UK on a daily basis. London to Alicante is about a 2.5 hour flight. It’s also possible to drive here from the UK – by ferry to France, then dual carriageways and motorways all the way until joining the main A7 motorway. The region is also well served with railway and sea links.

HomeEspana has properties throughout the Costa Blanca, from secluded rural villas to town apartments. Our lists are frequently updated, helping you understand the local market and make an informed decision when buying any type of property on the Costa Blanca.
